It was hard to hear about Arlene and I am in shock over it :( This is so sad.
I really loved her.
Here is my weekly update.
Tuesday: So Tuesday was our P-Day! After emailing and such we were going to meet up with the sisters and some other members to play some exploding kittens, but as always there's something more important that they have to do! You know what they did? They went shopping!! Ah I forgive them though because they are such good sisters! Well anyway so that left Elder Walker and I to figure out what to do for the rest of our P-Day... Which is really dangerous because both of us can't ever make up our minds! But Elder Walker had the amazing idea to drive down to Del Bonita and get some pictures at the U.S./Canada border crossing! Well we have some extra kilometers so we went! It was kinda funny because we were so paranoid about crossing the border without knowing (missionaries in the past have gone too far and ended up in the US.. Yeah idk how that happened either) but so instead of parking in the parking lot like regular humans, we pulled off on the side of the road and walked across the road to get a picture! Well as we were taking pictures I heard footsteps coming towards us.. I just thought "This is it.. I have no passport with me.. I'm done!" but the border control guy just told us to move our car and that we were basically idiots! Just the day in the life of us! We ended the day with dinner at a cute old peoples house, and a lesson for a recently baptized 8 year old boy! So all in all it was a pretty good day!
Wednesday: Nothing really exciting happened... We read to the senior people on Wednesdays at precisely 3pm.... Yeah we make their day by coming to read to them out of the Ensign :) We had another regular dinner.. We did have a lesson with one of our investigators. After our lesson with them, we went to the young men/young women's combined activity night where they depicted book of Mormon stories on the cakes! So Elder Walker and I got to judge them. The best part though is that they let us take the cake home with us! The even better part? Sister Barton made the cakes!! Ahh she's such a good baker!! So thus ended our amazing eventful day!
Thursday: So I don't have a lot to talk about that happens on Thursday.. We had to drive out to Lethbridge for Zone Conference!! Yay!! It was from 9-4.. Yeah let's just say that it was way too long! But with our mission getting smartphones, they wanted to really stress our purpose as missionaries and why we have these phones now and stuff. But after that was over, Elder Walker and I had interviews with the president! I love interviews because I can really just talk about anything that is troubling me! It's like a mini venting session! Lol but I did get all of my mail which was cool! This is when I finally got my phone! It's actually really weird having my phone from home again.. Like I just got use to not having a phone in my pocket and they give me it right back again! So we then ended the day with a lesson to a girl who is going to be 8 and she wanted to take the discussions before her baptism. We also had a lesson with a member that we meet every Thursday night at 8.
Friday: Wow what a day Friday was! This was the day that we moved out of our sketchy little house, or as the non member down the street calls it "The old condemned crack house"... Yeah it looks good in pictures but it is super sketchy! So yeah we moved out and had sister Barton and her family and friends come help move us! Oh man I really don't like moving.. So much crap you have to move that you never use! Like this is a missionary apartment.. Why do we have golf clubs? Anyway I am so grateful for all the help we got! After moving everything in Elder Walker had to go on exchanges with the zone leaders because he is the district leader, which means I had the opportunity to learn from one of the zone leaders Elder Del Molino, who is from Spain! Couldn't understand a lot of what he said, but I tried my best! So Elder Walker didn't even get to spend his first night in the new apartment with me. Oh but I did get to finally drive so that's a big plus!! I was so happy to finally get behind the wheel!! (our tiwi tracker dies when it's too cold so we just leave it unplugged...) so yeah, that ended our Friday!
Saturday: Well this was a very fun but stressful day! Since I was with the zone leader I was trying to make sure I had appointments and people to drop in on, potential investigators to visit and a little bit of tracking to do. Well per usual in this small town of Magrath, there isn't a whole lot of people who haven't heard of the church! They see us coming and they shut the blinds! I literally walked up to a house and I saw this woman in the window and she looked at me and hurry and closed the blinds! Like I can see you lady!! You don't deceive me! Lol but it was good.. But so we did all these things until dinner with the family that has the 8 year old girl taking the discussions before her baptism.. They are such awesome people! The dad is a car guy so we get along great just talking about different cars we want and such! After dinner we headed back to Spring Coulee (the halfway point between Magrath and Cardston) where we exchanged back. Then we drive all the way back to Magrath and went to bed.. We were both pretty tired from working with the zone leaders! We have a zone goal of 45 new investigators before our next transfer (April 5th)!
Sunday: You know.. I thought that 3 hours of church was long... Then I get out here where we go to church for like 9 hours! Ward council after ward council, filling in for lessons, going to sacrament meetings.. Let's just say that I keep a bottle of Excedrin handy in my backpack! Also idk if I mentioned but we cover an entire stake.. All 8 wards and 2 branches! That's a lot of meetings! Ever Sunday is Spring Coulees turn to feed us and they always have super early dinners! :).. so after dinner we forgot that we made plans to speak at a "Great to be 8" thing so they blew up our phone trying to get ahold of us.. Let's just say that that was a very impromptu talk on baptism! After that we went to mission prep where we then got pulled in to teach the class next Sunday! I honestly love teaching seminary and mission prep! It's so relaxed and not pushy! Lol but after we went to the Bartons because they made lasagna and Elder Walker was already hungry again! And that ended our Sunday!
Monday: It was my birthday!! I woke up to Elder Walker playing some Spanish birthday song on his phone! Then we made brownies to take to district training meeting! And he also made me special peanut butter cup brownies which were to die for! Ahh they are so dense and rich! I love that kind of stuff! But so we went to DTM and it was snowing pretty bad.. You know how we talk about bi polar weather in Utah? It's worse up here! One minute it's blowing snow and the next it's +2 with bright sunshine and all the fresh snowfall is gone! Anyway so everyone loved the brownies, and we headed over to the Subway in Raymond because we get free food there on Mondays! It's pretty awesome! So we came back to Magrath here and changed into work clothes and headed to our old apartment to deep clean it.. Which I really don't know why, because I feel that the house should just be knocked down!! It's one of the original houses in town! But anyway we cleaned it until dinner time, then we got dressed back up and went to dinner. After dinner we went to Mom and Dad's house (Abe and Yo Wolvers) and they sang happy birthday to me and gave me a cookie with a candle in it that I blew out! Then Elder Walker said he had a surprise for me.. Which is dangerous knowing him.. Well he blindfolded me and drive me around town to disorient me. We ended up at the Bartons where there was a little surprise party! They apparently had been planning it for a month behind my back (thanks mom haha) The people here really are so fantastic! Like I really couldn't have expected any better! I thought my birthday was gonna be kinda blah but I really enjoyed it! So that ended our night and we went back to our nice clean new apartment and fell asleep!
I want to thank EVERYONE for all that was sent to me from home. I loved everything and feel so blessed to know you all. You helped make my bday the best! A very big hug to you all!
